Caregiver in Grand Rapids MI
At Gauthier Family Home Care, we continue to be blessed with the very best caregivers in west Michigan. 
Case in point, our Caregiver of the Month for June, Larry Richard. Larry is married to Mary Jo, a nurse practitioner. They have three grown children, Alex, Brooke (both married and busy making grandchildren!) and Kyle (pursuing her MSW at GVSU). Larry and Mary Jo relocated to Grand Rapids about 18 months ago and we are so fortunate to have them here.
Larry started working with us in February this year. His schedule was pretty open so we started to slowly assign him to clients we considered to be a good match.
After a couple weeks, we realized two things. One was that Larry did not have the word “no” in his vocabulary. If we had an emergency and needed to fill a shift on short notice, Larry always agreed to cover for us. This is a scheduler’s dream come true. Secondly, we learned that Larry is a match for just about all our clients! Whenever we introduced Larry to a new client and followed up with a case management call, the client invariably stated they would love to have Larry put on their service permanently! This is a rare individual who instinctively relates to each of our unique clients so naturally, with compassion and professionalism.
It is one thing for our clients to give us this feedback during a case management meeting. But it’s really impressive to get the feedback from a fellow professional; unsolicited. Recently, an RN who we collaborate with on a shared client called our office to tell us how impressed she is with Larry. The client we share is a difficult case and this RN said Larry’s demeanor was “a breath of fresh air, so patient and calm” that the client was clearly benefitting from his visit. She called him the “most wonderful caregiver she has ever met”! We love that she went out of her way to give us that feedback.
And we love Larry! He epitomizes our vision as a caregiver who is utterly client centric. What is so heartwarming is to watch is how natural he is at it. THANK YOU LARRY!!
