Some months we do not have a candidate for this award because we look for extra special behavior on behalf of our clients so that the award is meaningful. That does not mean all of our caregivers 
are not doing exemplary work every day, we just look for the extraordinary efforts to keep this award special and valued.
But this month we did not have to work very hard to come up with our candidate…one of our clients did the work for us. WOW! It’s one thing for us to toot our own horn, but it is another (wonderful) thing for one of our clients to toot our horn for us! (Thank you K!)
Congratulations to Joy Jonker, our Caregiver of the Month for August! Joy has worked with us for over a year and brings a wealth of talent along with her wonderful spirit. She is a former RN, and after getting out of doing RN work full time, she decided to continue her mission of caring for people by coming to work with us. We love that instinctive caregiver spirit!
The best way to describe Joy’s contribution is to quote our client who said these things about Joy: “She is reliable, very hard working and really loves *** (client’s husband)”. “She gives 110% on every shift.” “She is THE hardest working caregiver and I enjoy spending time with her”. “Joy will do anything you ask her to do…dirty jobs included”. If this was an Olympic event, Joy would be sporting GOLD for sure!
But it’s not just the clients who love working with Joy. Internally, she is one of those wonderful, professional people that helps to promote a great team atmosphere. She works well with Jane (our scheduler) to cover shifts and is a great communicator.
We are twice blessed today; we have another extraordinary caregiver to honor, which keeps our mission thriving. And we have a very unselfish client who took the time to acknowledge our caregiver’s efforts. Life is GOOD!
