Caregiver in Rockford MI
After starting our home care agency from scratch, I learned that the hardest job in the world is being a scheduler in this business!! Once you have multiple clients and lots of caregivers, the 
responsibility to be sure each shift is covered, every hour, every day falls on the scheduler. And it seems a day does not go by when there are not several “surprises” that Mr. Murphy (of “Murphy’s Law” fame!) has conjured up to ruin your day. Caregiver is sick, car broke down, dog got hit by car, Aunt Maude passed away; you name it, we’ve seen it.
And, as you know, we do NOT miss shifts. So there’s a bit of pressure when we have an open shift.
So when a scheduler comes across a caregiver who is willing to drop whatever he or she is doing to help out in an emergency, that caregiver is elevated to “rock star” status in our office! Our Caregiver of the Month for July is Debra Armock-Colunga, and according to Jane, our scheduler, she makes Taylor Swift look like a has-been. Debra is a true ROCK STAR for Jane!
Debra has worked for us for a year now. Several years ago, a factory she worked for downsized. She decided to reinvent herself. She invested in her education by going back to school to get her Medical Assistant certification. She started in the home care business shortly thereafter and eventually found a home with us. We are thrilled to have her.
Jane loves Debra; she is her “go-to” caregiver when she needs a big favor, and with Debra’s great background and experience, she can cover just about every client we have.
Debra recently became concerned while engaging with a particularly complicated case and after her shift called the office and asked if she could come in, NOW, on her own time, to view some training videos related to that case. She thought she was doing everything right, but wanted to cover every possible detail in the care plan / procedure so that the client was getting the best possible care. We love that kind of dedication!
