Caregiver of the Month – December 2018

We are so excited to be honoring Etossi Hall (we call her “E”) as our December Caregiver of the Month!  We had the pleasure of presenting her this award at our November Caregiver Appreciation Luncheon, so E was recognized in front of 50 of her peers. E was beaming from ear to ear when I announced her name.  So much fun to recognize high quality staff members in this way.

Caregiver of the Month: Etossi H.

Caregiver of the Month: Etossi H.

E has been with GFHC for three and half years.  She bought into our client centric culture from the get-go.  But we did not need to train her on how we manifest this culture for our client’s benefit, turns out this is just how she is built. E came with her CNA training and a focused caregiver’s heart.  She is truly the consummate, professional caregiver.

E is flexible, a home care agency scheduler’s dream come true.  She will work first, second or third shifts if we are in a pinch.  She has saved the day for our schedulers numerous times over the years.  And the very best tribute to her worthiness of this award is the fact that every client that E has engaged with has loved her.  In three and a half years she has taken care of thirty-two different clients.  Being able to connect with each of them so effectively is a testimony to her ability to read people and deliver her caring services uniquely to each new client she meets.  Remarkable!

We also consider our services as holistic, meaning we are not engaged with just the client, but with the whole family.  We strive to nurture the whole family as they are all affected by the very need for our services, and the resulting stress can be overwhelming.

An example of that is a recent phone call we received from the daughter of one of our long-time clients.  She took the time to call us and praise the work E has performed for her mother over the last two years.  Of the many examples she gave us, one really stood out and made the daughter the happiest.  She described how E would spend extra time after bathing her mom to also do her hair and make-up.  She was near tears when she said, “I have never seen my mother look so beautiful!”  That’s a home care ‘perfect world’ right there, both the client and her daughter are benefiting from E’s caring ways.

The home care business is incredibly stressful.  We make promises to families to take GREAT care of them and we do not break our promises.  Delivering that promise for 8 years, 24/7 is daunting, especially for our schedulers.  However, when we have folks like Etossi, whose dedication prompts a family member to call and describe how happy they are about our services, it makes our hearts soar!  THANK YOU, E, for your part in making our hearts soar!

About Dan Gauthier

Dan Gauthier has a long and successful business pedigree. He spent his college years working in the restaurant business and worked in various executive management positions at Universal Forest Products, Inc. over a span of 17 years, and Therm Technology / Family Safety Products for 12 years.

When the recession hit in 2008 Dan was “downsized” from UFP and spent a few years consulting for local companies Amway and Cascade Engineering. During this period Dan’s in-laws were experiencing catastrophic health problems and it required Dan’s wife Marion to focus full time on caregiving for her mother. Marion enlisted help from a local home care agency and it did not go well. This experience led to the creation of Gauthier Family Home Care, a home care agency that is uniquely holistic and family centric. Dan now works full time running GFHC.
